environment for bridge (draft)

This is the environment developed based on the city of Hamburg. The proposed bridge is to go across the river and connect the two buildings of opposite sides of the river.
The environment is based on this scheme of the city, where there is a river flowing in between buildings.

The valley developed in Sandbox is based on the city of Hamburg. Here are some images of the city.

This is the Port of Hamburg. The image shows there is a bridge across the river.

environment for bridge

the image shows a view of a city at a waterfront, illustrating one of the cities of Germany. Angela Merkel, one of the clients for Experiment 3, was originated from Hamburg, Germany, thus the environment for the experiment is based on her country of origin. In Germany, most of the cities are settled along a river, as the river become the city's source of fresh water. The city Hamburg itself settled in a waterfront area.

finally..5 images of labs and environment

Sorry for being late. Luckily, the problem faced before had been resolved, and the final submission could be done.

The labs are developed based on this scheme. While being developed, one of the blocks is made bigger to be made into one of the labs, so that the labs are located at both ends of the model. As the labs are for Stephen Hawking and Charles Darwin, their ideas are put into consideration while developing this model, which are understanding of the universe and origin of mankind respectively. The structures of the model revolve around an open area, which is the meeting point, representing the understanding of the universe, where it is said that in the universe, the planets revolve around a central entity, such as the planets revolve around the Sun. The model of the labs is located at the seaside, which is related to nature, which can be related to the origin of mankind.

This image shows the view of the lab during noon. The white block is Darwin's lab, which located closely to nature, one of his interest.

The view of the labs from the side.

The view of the labs at night, showing the black block, Hawking's labs facing the open sea and the sky can be clearly seen. This enables Hawking to reminisce the night sky, with the view of stars, which can be related to the Universe.

The view of the labs from above, showing all blocks of prisms.

The view of the meeting point, which is an open place in the middle of the model. It is also shown the ramp created by the slope, going down from Darwin's lab to the meeting point.

inconvenient setback

i'm sorry due to the late submission of the final 5 images of the labs in crysis environment. there's a problem of exporting the sketchup model of 9 prisms into the sandbox editor. only several prisms are exported while some are missing. until now, the problem has not been solved, but i hope it yet to be. sorry for the inconvenient.

36 texture of materials

black box

Lecture 7 which discusses about the Black Box has opened my mind to a new insight of light and shadow, especially in architectural perspective. One particular topic that captured my mind is Shadow as Refuge, in which discussing about shadow casting textures. Shadow existed when light directed to one opaque object. This concept has evolved an idea of expression of texture onto a surface by using shadow casting, instead of using drawings, tiles arrangements, or carved woods. The image potrays a shadow cast of a structure on a surface of a wall which creates a unique pattern, thus creating a texture. Besides that, it is also shown on how nature expresses itself onto buildings through shadow casting. In my opinion, this creative type of approach has broaden people’s mind on relating nature in designing buildings, where new modes of relationship between nature and design can be created.

electroliquid aggregation

This is the combination of two quotes, one by Stephen Hawking and another from Charles Darwin:

"Man do not consider animals as equal because they are special, they understand the Universe."
